Rainer Eder

Rainer Eder is a professional outdoor and adventure photographer known for capturing the thrill of extreme sports, with a special focus on rock climbing. A native Austrian now living in Switzerland for over two decades, Rainer became a photo professional in 2005. As an enthusiastic climber and a well-connected figure in the climbing scene, he works with some of the world’s top rock and ice climbers, as well as leading brands like Mammut, Odlo, Black Diamond, and Red Bull. Not limited to climbing, Rainer’s lens also captures other extreme sports, including base jumping, freeriding, speed flying, and whitewater kayaking. His work is defined by being in the right place at the right time and having the skill to seize the perfect moment. One of his skiing shots even earned him the “Best Mountain Adventure Photo” award at the Banff Mountain Photography Competition. Originally trained as a painter, Rainer’s passion for photography led him to an incredible career where he thrives on the variety, travel, and extraordinary people he meets along the way. “The road to success as a professional photographer was long and difficult,” he says, reflecting on his journey. Today, Rainer continues to push boundaries in his field and finds joy in every outdoor adventure he documents.
